Jerrold Burchman was born in New York City. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15 with his family. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Fine Art from U.C.L.A. In 1963, he received a Fulbright Fellowship in Painting to Italy where he resided in Rome. In the next two years he had exhibitions of his paintings in Rome, Milan, and Venice. He has been showing his work in the U.S. and Europe for over fifty years. His paintings are in the collections of the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, L.A.C.M.A., the Denver Museum, the Portland Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the La Jolla Museum and others. He has taught drawing an painting at many universities and art institutions over the years, including U.C.L.A., U.S.C.,U.C. Irvine, Otis College of Art and Design, Art Center College of Design and others. Mr. Burchman currently lives in Los Angeles and teaches part-time at Santa Monica College.
